Our Members:
We exist because of our dedication to the children and youth of greater Providence. They come in all shapes and sizes but they have one thing in common; they are looking for a safe and fun place to learn and play and role models they can emulate.
One of our goals is to make our services affordable to the children and families we serve. We charge our members $18 annually to enroll in our programs and use our facilities (While we like to see our members pay the membership fee, we do not turn any child away whose family might not be able to afford our dues).
In 2005, we served 7,180 children and youth, 4,334 through our general membership and 2,846 “other youth served” through athletic leagues, rentals and special events. Seventy one percent (71%) of our children are living in economically disadvantaged households and sixty three percent (63%) come from single-parent homes. The overall ethnicity of our members is 29% Caucasian, 28% African-American, 25% Hispanic, 15% Multiracial, 2% Native American, and 1% Asian. Our members are 59% males and 41% females. We pride ourselves on being inclusive and diverse.
