ABOUT US

School Age Child Care

We are proud to serve school-age children throughout Providence and North Providence with before and after school child care services.  Our morning programs start at 7:00 a.m. and provide children with activities, breakfast and reliable transportation to school.  Our afternoon programs offer direct pick up from many locations.  After school activities include daily access to homework assistance, in addition to providing children the opportunity to explore various aspects of  technology, physical education, and the arts. Our School Age Child Care programs are fully licensed by the Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF). Any parent who needs assistance will be happy to know that our School Age Child Care program accepts payment from the Department of Human Services (DHS).

Bridging the Digital Divide:

In 2005, the Club was the beneficiary of three state-of-the art, wireless computer labs donated by GTECH Corporation, two donated by the Beaumount Foundation of America, and one from Cox Communications. The Boys and Girls Clubs are committed to offering members access to the latest computer technology, training and skills to safely access the internet. Our full and part-time staff work with members to build skills and make technology an integral part of their lives.

NetSmartz, an internet safety program, trains members on the dangers of internet use from both on-line predators and identity theft schemes. Interactive activities teach the dangers of surfing online and how to avoid them through fun games that reinforce internet safety concepts. Providing real-life scenarios of youth who encounter dangers online, NetSmartz enables children with the knowledge to successfully avoid negative influences.

Skill Tech is a basic computer skills program which develops Club members’ proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and other productivity software through fun, hands-on, and engaging lessons. Older members are offered training on the entire Microsoft Office suite. In addition, digital arts allow our members to create art and participate in movie-making.

Each day allow members an important opportunity to deepen their appreciation of our world and its diversity. Whether members choose visual or written arts, digital arts, theatre and performing arts or other physical arts they are challenged to be inspired, as well as, inspiring others.

Sports & Recreation

For decades, sports have been an empowering influence for millions of kids. For the Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence, a solid connection with recreation and fitness is one of our most time-honored traditions.

The development of sound mind and body. A positive use of leisure time. The social skills needed for good teamwork. An appreciation for the environment. These are some of the benefits our members enjoy, whether they’re participating in leagues, individual sports, or our many gamesroom activities.
